I LOVE BEING A MOM! I never thought of myself as the mommy type because I love my career, have always wanted to travel the world, like to sleep later and more importantly never really liked anyone elses kids. So imagine my surprise when I touched that pregnancy test and it turned to a big giant blue +. But two year later I have discovered that I do have a maternal instinct and I'm pretty good at it if I say so myself (toot toot). I had to find my own style of mothering though everyone from my sisters (both of them), my mom, friends etc had some piece of advice to share with me. Only my Nana has ever just said do the best you can and raise him with respect and manners. I have taken all of their wisdom and created my own mommy style that works for me.
My son is happy, smart and is quite affectionate (ok he might punch you or your kid but its all in fun and love, when does this stage end?). Things that CJ does that make me love motherhood...

*How he will run a city block to tell me how much he missed me even after I just go two steps to check the mail.

*His morning serenades. They are sweet and funny because he really only knows every other word.

*When he dances, he makes this very serious face like what I know I am the best dancer. Its too funny.

*He likes my singing and when I read him a book (which we can do all day)

Alrighty then all the sentimental stuff is out of the way.... I also hate, hmmm is that too strong of a word? No I really do hate a few little things.

*This morning after my morning 5:00 serenade (CJ singing one two buckle my shoe) I realized that I fell asleep with his cars in my bed. So this is two fold, I hate being so tired (increase workout) and I hate that all his cars are everywhere. I'm teaching him how to put them away in the garage we are building out of shoe boxes.

* I hate kids TV! Now I try not to let CJ watch too much TV but when I need to comb and braid his hair there is no other option or he is all over the place like a worm. I really liked the Wiggles before but now if I hear "Waggs the dog" one more time I am liable to go downtown to the clock building and start firing like Remy in "Higher Learning". <---watch this video starting around 5:00 if you have never seen the movie *sidenote Tyra = bad actress, Larry Fishburn = bad accent (he was still Larry when this came out) Omar Epps = my heart pitter patter

* I hate doing his laundry...actually I hate doing all laundry. But all of his little shirts, pants and socks just make it seem like I am doing laundry all day. And folding up all those little pieces of clothes again might make Remy come out to play.

So I guess thats not really that bad, but I really do hate folding laundry. It's the most annoying thing ever.

I always give extra props to the moms out there, because for one I know for a FACT that I could not do it. I know it's a great feeling to be a mother and have that little guy around sharing all of his love. All those little things you hate, I know you love them all the same.

P.S - I want to play with the cars in the shoebox garage!

@sheW0rd, no for real I hate those things. Last night after I wrote this blog CJ made me do the twist (with the wiggles) about 20 times. I can't help it he loves them. I was the same about his brief fascination with Barney.

@Dreamcop He really is so precious and I can't say no to the big brown eyes and dimples, which is why I have to listen to the wiggles EVERY WHERE WE GO! HAHA, I'm a sucker I know it.

@promiscuos X. thanks for coming by. and thanks for the compliment. I swear Cj has a car for everyday he's been on this earth. He was about 2 months old and he had a little hummer its just crazy.

Can I come to your moms house and she do my laundry too..Cj will sing her a song :)

Being a mom really is a love/hate thing. They're lucky they're so cute.

I think you should definitely do the sits thing. People get tired of reading the typical mommy blogs! They would love you!!

girrrrrrrrrrrrl, you know this is RIGHT up my alley.

lil PCD is my world...and i was even further from you before having her. i never have liked (still don't) other kids much. and i always thought that id have a kid, being working and fabulous, strutting around in suits and passing the kid off to whatever child care person. well, soooooooo not the case. ever since she was born, i can't let go, so the first few months turned into me being a SAHM which i cant imagine changing-EVER!

even after a never-changing sore back, running around like a crazed spider monkey all day to her activities, or the 3-4 day/week uniform of sneakers and tank tops...motherhood has made my life so much greater.

Hey girlie... I'm not a mommy but I can relate and never thought I was the mommy type until I saw both my sisters have lil boys last year. I never even wanted kids before I saw the joy that is brought both of them...

I still cant stand kid TV either though... both my sisters still watched cartoons before they had boys... my kids gonna be watching not cartoons.... joking

Awww this is too sweet. I've always been the motherly type (hence working with all these babe childrens) but I def. can't wait (well I can) until I have my own lil' one. I joke that I don't need birth control because the kids I work with are my birth control. It's different when you can give them back at the end of the day and even that is tiring. Kiddie shows now a days are the worse, I can't stand the Wiggles. But I love folding!

@momma losing it They most certainly are because if not the Wiggles would never get any play in this house. Ok I am going to go ahead and submit my blog, I do like free stuff

@PCD Amen to that.I still don't like other people kids either. I wish I could have stayed home a little longer than I did. I am able to work from home some days so that makes the difference. When I was pregnant I would play and sing him Glady's knight's Best thing that ever happen to me... its the truth!

@opinionated diva They do! they really do. I just hate folding all those little clothes. :) So most time its daddys job.

@eb I was the same way when my sisters had their kids. I knew from being around my nephew that I could do it, it was just a matter of did I really want to. Now I look back on how I use to get so indignant about not wanting kids and I'm think how silly I was. I LOVE CARTOONS but I try to only let CJ watch educational shows. He is just fascinated with the singing

@Lena Yeah hows the teaching going? I would not want to teach to save my life, one is too much for me I can't imagine 10 at a time. But having CJ was and is the best thing that ever happen to me. And the folding will be right here waiting for you just say the word.

I'm going to have to post a pic of the shoe box garage.

Gurl, babies are our angels...i know it's hard when they are young, because that means no time for you...we sacrifice so much, we give our all to these babies...but let me tell you, when they grow older and start to move away we miss all those small things, we are just natural nurturers, and i just so love any an every moment that my babies say, "I love you", each and every hug, an all their kisses. My heart swells whenever they are in my presence.
