History Twist

This weekend I found myself battling with yet another case of insomnia (Welcome back old friend), after tossing and turning I finally decided to give in and turn on my television and watch the news. I figured if I heard a few stories about the deficit I would fall back to sleep immediately...No Such Luck!

Why because of this story below:

A major gun advocate is promoting his pro-firearms stance by saying that had African Americans been given the right to bear arms, "slavery might not have been a chapter in our history."
Larry Ward, chairman of Gun Appreciation Day, appeared on CNN Friday to defend the nationwide gun rally, which is scheduled for Jan. 19 -- just two days before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Talking Points Memo notes.Ward insists that Gun Appreciation Day, which calls on gun activists across the nation to rally in support of the right to bear arms and against President Barack Obama's “post-Sandy Hook assault on gun rights," actually "honors the legacy of Dr. King."
I was stunned! Is this group so desperate for followers that they think they can just twist history? Clearly they are. Even in the most elementary of history lessons we are taught that slaves were brought to America against their will..hence the term SLAVERY. They were treated like cattle, beaten into submission and bought and sold away from their families. Does this sound like an environment where the OWNERS would let their property have guns?

NO! This is just another way for people to twist Black History for their own purposes, and there just seems to be too much of that going on lately. First that wacko Bachman signing the marriage vow, which claimed African Americans were better off during slavery, and every other story on Fox news from Ann Coulter insisting that we all become republicans because they freed us to Black Panthers intimidating voters. And NOW this...

I could add Django to this list to fuel all of your fire but I'm not here to debate movies and writers that live in their little bubbles. But real news, Yes I will point that out because too many people will think there is some accuracy to this nonsense and spread it to the masses.

Just Ranting A Little

While I was on vacation from corporate America I had time to do a little observation of the regular world. I realized some people are just crazy. I started writing this list during Festivus so if it comes off as a list of grievances... well it is. LOL

1. Natural Hair Mafia - I'm going to need y'all to simmer all the way the hell down. So many rants on twitter about how much better they are than say the woman who perms their hair. JUST STOP IT! If your hair is natural and you love it God Bless but you don't have the right to call another woman out just because of that. Especially if I see you later tweeting about all the other un-natural things you put into your body.

2. Catfish- Too many people out here with Jekly and Hyde personalities. No sane person has time for that mess.

3. Stop being lazy!- I watched as so many people made excuses for why they couldn't do one thing or another. Too lazy to take care of yourself physically and mentally. Too lazy with language, too lazy to fix the typos in your FB status, so you make an excuse. Come on people we must do better. And look I'm the queen of typos but when I see them I fix them.

4. Status: I'm complicated- NOPE that's a bunch of bull. If a relationship is complicated then it's not worth discussing and it's damn sure not worth listing on FB. Ex. your complicated S/O is cheating on you well guess what s/he is not worth your time. It's a new year give them the boot! Y'all better stop watching all these damn reality shows thinking that how relationships work. To quote my Nana "Those people have already made their money and you're sitting around watching them act up." Nana be knowing.

5. Dig deeper- You are the sum of all your parts not just one part. I have seen so many people define themselves by their careers, or station in life (I am a mother/father). Hose are smaller parts that make up a bigger picture, in order to be the best you, you will need to really figure that out. Trust me it will make you happier to see yourself as the glorious multi-faceted human being you are.

WHOO what a relief that was. I know a few of you are tired of me ranting in your IM about these things so expect more of my famous lists! LOL

What would you add to this list? Leave it in the comments.

Oh Hey I'm Back!

WOW this is my first post since June of 2012, which was a long long time ago. After a brief conversation with my friends and taking a look at my daily life, I decided to revive my favorite  pass time.

There were a few reason but the two most important one are that I created random as a safe space for my thoughts and feelings about the world I live in. I'm still living and I still have thoughts so I should be keeping my journals going. I've noticed that when I post regularly my stress level seemed lower, because blogging gave me a place to just vent without wondering "what would (insert random family member) is thinking?" I was able to share my opinions on real life struggles and on occasion share some great advice that I have used to better my life and hopefully helped you.

So in short I'mmmm BAACCCCKKKK!!!!! I'm not promising daily post,  because as many of you know I'm only 6 weeks away from having my second child but I will be back on the scene (and not just the twitter scene either). I hope you enjoy!
